THE CRAVINGS COMPASS

Today I'm
in the mood for the sea.

You don't always know where. Sometimes it's enough to know what you feel like.

Sea, a stroll and a long lunch looking out over the water.
TIMING MATTERS TOO

October is asking for a getaway.

Every month has its place

Autumn walks, villages at a different pace and the urge to stretch the weekend.

Selected using each guide's best time to visit and AEMET climate normals. Check the forecast and opening times before you travel.

BLUE ISN'T JUST ONE PLACE

A little salt.
And everything changes.

Mediterranean coves, the Cantabrian coast or sand beside the lava. Choose your beach by how you want to enjoy it, how you get there and what the sea is doing.

Find your kind of beach
A COUNTRY FOR ALL FIVE SENSES

This is how Spain feels.

It's not about doing more.
It's about staying a little longer.

01 / A CHANGE OF BLUE

End the day with salt on your skin.

A coastal walk before lunch and a beach chosen without hurry. Llanes, Cadaqués and Lanzarote have different seas and different ways to reach them.

Choose your coast
02 / LOSE COUNT OF THE STREETS

One village. Zero rush.

Viewpoints in Ronda, colour above the harbour in Cudillero and stone at nightfall in Cáceres. Stay the night: there's another stroll waiting once the day slows down.

Find streets to get lost in
03 / LEAVE ROOM FOR WHATEVER COMES

The best plans have gaps.

One key booking, a lunch that doesn't run to the clock and time to change your mind. Our planner helps you choose a base; you set the pace.

Before you pack

What you're probably wondering.

Where can I go for a two- or three-day getaway in Spain?+

For two days, Ronda, Cudillero, Cáceres, and Cádiz work well. With a third day, Cadaqués, Llanes, and Doñana and Mazagón let you add the coast or the surrounding countryside. Factor in the journey from where you live. The islands are best with more time, especially if you need to fly.

How do I choose between the beach, a village or nature?+

Start with what you feel like doing and how much time you have. The compass on this page suggests places by mood; the comparison tool lets you check days, season and budget. Then open the guide to check access and bookings.

Is it worth visiting Spain outside the summer?+

Yes, but the plan changes by region. For Cáceres, May and September are the months we recommend based on climate (AEMET). There is no published climate data for Ronda: we suggest December to February because it is less crowded, not because of the weather. In the Canary Islands, check each island's recommended month in its guide. On the mainland coast, check seasonal services, sea conditions and the forecast before planning a trip around swimming.
